I went to my first and only Ottawa Chamberfest 2010 show on July 27, 2010.
The show took place downstairs at the Saint Brigid’s Church.
It was kind of hot there since they had no AC.
Mostly came to support Kyrie Kristmanson who is frequently covered in this site.
Also I haven’t seen her play in Ottawa for awhile due to Kyrie being in France.
It was a unqiue show because she was backed up by the Afiara String Quartet.

The show was a world premiere of the Domna Elegies.

Went to Zaphod Beeblebrox on a Monday night to see three bands.
It didn’t really feel like Monday when they played.
It was a cassette tape release for In-Flight Safety‘s “We Are an Empire, My Dear”. (How nifty for them to do that!).
This was my third and half times seeing this band. Half being this show.
They have been growing on me and really loving “We Are An Empire, My Dear” due to the song Model Homes (played on the TV show Chuck) and Actors.

They put on a great show.
Played two new songs.
A band you definitely need to see live and are nice people.
Here are the rest of the photos.

Here is this week’s singles chart.
Another new #1 spot this time.
Hopefully Shad will win the Polaris Music Prize for 2010.
There are new debuts from two big names and some smaller unknown bands.

Things are sort of picking up post Bluesfest and it was a Friday night.
Headed up to Cafe Dekcuf to see three bands (technically two since I didn’t see the headliner).
The acts were:

If you don’t want to read the review then go back and look at the photos from their show at Ottawa Bluesfest.
People are waiting breathlessly for the new release of Arcade Fire’s third full-length album “The Suburbs”.
The album drops on August 2/3, 2010.
I know there are some people who would wait for the release date.
I for one couldn’t wait and decided to hear it.
Don’t worry I pre-ordered The Suburbs on iTunes.
