The Slew @ Babylon

Wow! Look at this mess! :P

I can’t believe I actually went to see The Slew on September 7th.
Being a last minute decision to attend this show. and want to thank Exclaim! (For a fuller review of the show).
It is sort of close to being at a Kid Koala show but with a band.
Their set just blew me away and I was not expecting a intense heavy dance set!
Reminds me of Holy F**k when they played in Ottawa back in 2008.
Apparently it was a short set due to being its their first album and a brand new act.
Sucks that they should have been in the shortlist for the Polaris Music Prize.

What a show it was!!
Can’t believe I had alot of fun on a Tuesday night.
Apparently you can get their album for free somewhere on the internet.

It was a busy packing show at Raw Sugar Cafe on September 4, 2010.
The weather was changing and it was chilly outside but inside Raw Sugar Cafe was already rock hot.
Despite a distraction by firetrucks, ambulance and the po-po on Somerset. Apparently there was a fire on a building.
Friends and families came out in support to see:

Being the long Labour Day Weekend, decided to get out of my comfort zone of the indie music scene.
Went to Frenzy which is a monthly techno-dance party at Babylon Nightclub in Ottawa.
I finally got to see Jokers of the Scene, since there have been some buzz about them.
It was also a farewell party because the duo of DJ Booth (aka Linus Booth) and Chameleonic (aka Chris Macintrye) since both are moving to Toronto. [Thank you Guerilla Magazine for all the info]
There was great laser lights from Artengine/Ryan Stec.

It was night three and the last night for the i(heart)music festival that happened on August 28th.
It was a big night because seven bands was playing not just one but two rooms at Mavericks and Cafe Dekcuf.
The night happened to be The Love Machine‘s CD Release show for their long awaited full length “Sweather Weather“.
At least there was a good set up to know who to see at Mavericks and Cafe Dekcuf without freaking out on who you missed out.

The second night of the i(heart)music festival happened on August 27th.
The turnout was better than the before but still I love the bands that played the night before. (People, you have to check out Parlovr big time!)
It felt like Ottawa bands night well minus the one band from Toronto.
Sorry for this review being somewhat short being its very late night and editing the photos at the same time.

It was the first night of the i(heart)music festival at Mavericks.
The turnout was not what I expected it probably it was a Thursday night or people are away on vacation before summer ends (WHO KNOWS!).
But I was happy to see all four acts playing one great show on Thursday night.
It was also a last show for this Ottawa band (which I decided to take a Polaroid).

List of who is playing at this year's event.

Its the last week of summer and either people need some musical fun to end it off.
Here is one mini-festival/show that you should check out.
Its the i(heart)music festival on August 26-28.
Three days of great Canadian bands/musicians playing live under one building.
Five years running and could be possibly (or not) the last one for i(heart)music.
Here is why you should check out this event.

Mother nature did not cooperate on the last day of the Ottawa Folk Festival.
So there was alot of rescheduling of the music workshops that was suppose to happened on the Sunday afternoon.
Mostly spent being inside the Bowie Theatre all day.
But overall with the chaos that happened, things went pretty smoothly.
