Today was “Vinyl/Records Day”.
So I played tunes that was in my collection of records that I have bought in recent years.
Have a listen to the show (Sorry on the messy transitions on the tracks, I was going for the fast winding sound :P ):

Sam Roberts with Elizabeth Powell (Land Of Talk) – Longitude

Check out this wild duet from Sam Roberts and Land of Talk‘s Liz Powell.
The song is called Longitude.
It’s from the upcoming album from Sam Roberts called Collider which drops on May 10th.
Guessing that both are Montrealers, why wouldn’t Sam want to have her contribute on the album.
It’s a good rocking song, has that BSS sound to it.
Have a listen/download to Longitude.

Finally the time has come.
After a month of listening and re-listening the Canadian albums that has been released in the year 2010.

Since I was going to do a Top 50 which went down to 75.
If you want ot check out the whole list of the Top 75, it is on this page.
Be surprised if this album is not #1 like everyone has been putting it on their best of list.
Wanted to spotlight someone else for the #1 position.
Interesting enough that Luke LaLonde is featured three times in this list.
So let’s cheer or jeer on the Top 10.

Compiling the Best of 2010 “Overall Albums”

Here is another installment of what to expect on the Best of 2010 list.
This time being “Overall”.
I don’t just focus on Canadian music, I do check out stuff from the USA and the UK.
Overall being albums outside of Canada that was released in 2010.
As before in the “Canadian albums of 2010” no albums that was released in late 2009.
There will be some Canadian albums that made a splash outside of Canada crossing over into this list.
I really need your help/input on which albums from the USA, UK or elsewhere should make it in the Top 50?
Please make a comment and I will try and see if I should check out the album.
Here is a teaser from the Top 50 albums I have chosen in “alphabetical order” (not the official ranking).

Compiling the Best of 2010 “Canadian Albums”

2010 is almost ending soon and its time to do a year end list on music.
I know its going to be annoying for those “Best Of” list.
I think its fun doing it.
Starting today I will re-listen the albums that came out in 2010.
Most of the albums have been reviewed but some need to be re-listened again and make my final judgement.
Sorry EPs and albums that came out in late 2009 can not qualify.
I will be doing a Top 50 list.
Like I did last year I will post them separately from #50-#41 and etc.
There might be last minute changes, some albums might be dropped out and be replaced.
Unless you want to help me out or suggest who to be in the list?
If I am missing a album please make a comment.
Here is a teaser from the Top 50 albums I have chosen in “alphabetical order” (not the official ranking).

Suuns – Zeroes QC (Review)

As previously reviewed their EP awhile back.
Montreal’s Suuns has released their full-length album on Secretly Canadian called Zeroes QC.
As mentioned before their music is indie minimalist rhythms alterna-synth-rock.
Having the dreamy vocals of Ben Shemie mix with the noisy, droning guitars riffs and thumping synth-keyboards.
The ten tracks on the album just blew my ears away.
Impressive with the production on this album.
The two tracks that were on the EP, Arena and PVC sounds so much better on the full-length.
If you like the sounds of the British influence sounds of Joy Division and Muse (before they got too big).
This is the album to get!
Best tracks:

  • Armed for Peace
  • Gaze
  • Arena
  • Pie IX
  • Music video is NSFW

  • Sweet Nothing
  • Up Past The Nursery
  • PVC
  • Organ Blues

if I rate this, it would be a 9.5/10
