Check out this music video by Montreal’s Cobra & Vulture.
The song Station Agent of Change is from their debut EP “Seer” (which is free to download).
It is a interesting music video they used footage from the Prelinger Archives.
Music and photography site in Ottawa.
After seeing Roberta Bondar and missing Bad Vibrations and Shameless at Babylon.
I headed up to Café Nostalgica (which I thought was suppose to be closed in September in rebuilding it) to see Montreal’s Cobra & Vultures.
If you don’t know they were formerly known as Nightwood.
This was their first show in Ottawa with the new name.
They were a last minute addition in opening up for Toronto’s The Mark Inside.
I always wondered what was going on in the Nightwood camp.
Besides the drummer Jeremy who has been busy with Parlovr. (Guys when is the new album??)
Anyways back on the topic.
Low and behold, received an email from them here and is what I got.
Friends, we are pleased to present our band. We still love Nightwood, but that is now a band from before, and here is Cobra & Vulture.
Don’t worry! Same band members just a different name.
The band just released an EP called Seer. Which is free to download on their Bandcamp.
All four tracks are around 2 minutes.
It’s very different from what Nightwood.
Less heavy with the guitars (exception on Future Tension & Fortue) but more catchy and experimental with a hint of lo-fi.
Great songwriting from the band.
I really like all four tracks.
I wish I was in Montreal for this but will be listening to this online.
Montreal’s Nightwood is doing this great session in March for CKUT.
I am more excited to hear Cotton Mouth (Basically Parlovr with another singer :P).
Surprised that Sick Friend is in this session since I haven’t from them in about two years.
Here is the info taken from their website.
Reversing Falls is a Montreal band that I really want to checkout in 2011.
Which should have been reviewed in late 2010 but got too busy with the holidays and best of list.
Here is another installment on the best of 2010: Singles.
Its the singles from #31-#40.
As mentioned before some of the singles will be based from the Singles Chart on this site.
You might find some of the mainstream singles kind of lower in the list.
But its not about what is popular just as long they are on the 2010 list.
There is a two Glee songs in this list and you just have to find out which one they are.
Check out the list.
I didn’t get to see their set on May 7th at Raw Sugar Cafe.
So I have to use photos of them from Pop Montreal in 2009.
I managed to do a interview with Montreal’s Cotton Mouth.
Since Parlovr is one of my favorite bands at the moment.
Here is the gist of what Cotton Mouth is.
The band was started up by Martin Horn (Pictured in the bottom) who is also a producer.
He produced Parlovr and Nightwood‘s album.
His backing band is the members of Parlovr.
The music is familiar to Parlovr and Nightwood.
But its more indie rock poppy and experimental.
Listen to the interview I did with Martin, Alex and Jeremy. (Louis was not there because he was resting in the van)
This is another of my favorite and funny interview.
I asked on how the band was formed, asked Martin on being a producer and a musician, name dropping Nightwood, Jeremy and Alex if Martin is a tough producer and my horrible french.
Check out and listen to Cotton Mouth’s Black Hand.
