Cobra & Vulture and The Mark Inside @ Café Nostalgica [October 28, 2011]

After seeing Roberta Bondar and missing Bad Vibrations and Shameless at Babylon.
I headed up to Café Nostalgica (which I thought was suppose to be closed in September in rebuilding it) to see Montreal’s Cobra & Vultures.
If you don’t know they were formerly known as Nightwood.
This was their first show in Ottawa with the new name.
They were a last minute addition in opening up for Toronto’s The Mark Inside.

Cobra & Vulture – Seer [EP Review]

Seer Cover Art
I always wondered what was going on in the Nightwood camp.
Besides the drummer Jeremy who has been busy with Parlovr. (Guys when is the new album??)
Anyways back on the topic.
Low and behold, received an email from them here and is what I got.
Friends, we are pleased to present our band. We still love Nightwood, but that is now a band from before, and here is Cobra & Vulture.
Don’t worry! Same band members just a different name.
The band just released an EP called Seer. Which is free to download on their Bandcamp.
All four tracks are around 2 minutes.
It’s very different from what Nightwood.
Less heavy with the guitars (exception on Future Tension & Fortue) but more catchy and experimental with a hint of lo-fi.
Great songwriting from the band.
I really like all four tracks.

Montreal’s Nightwood is doing this great session in March for CKUT.
I am more excited to hear Cotton Mouth (Basically Parlovr with another singer :P ).
Surprised that Sick Friend is in this session since I haven’t from them in about two years.
Here is the info taken from their website.
