David Vertesi – Cardiography (Review)

David Vertesi for those that don’t know.
You might know him from playing with the indie pop band Hey Ocean!
On October 26, 2010 he will drop his solo debut album called “Cardiography”.

Cardiography is eleven tracks of intimate and personal songs that he has written.
Its a mix of indie acoustic folk, rock and pop.
Far different when he plays with Hey Ocean!
His music has more of a serious side.
Gentlemen Say sounds like he is somewhat channeling Gord Downie
All Night, All Night, All Night is one that sound very personal.
Learn To Run has that indie lo-fi folk sound.
Cardiography is reminds me of a Dan Mangan song.

This album is very reminisced to Dan Mangan and Aidan Knight with a mix of Tom Waits, Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen.
What a great album.
Surprised with the songwriting and the talents coming from David.
Best tracks:

  • Mountainside
  • Gentlemen Say
  • All Night, All Night, All Night
  • [audio:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4791237/03%20All%20Night%2C%20All%20Night%2C%20All%20Night.mp3]
  • Learn To Run
  • Cardiography
  • Caroline! A Ghost!
  • Hearts Don’t Break, People Do

If I rate this, it would be 8.5/10.
