FLO – Fierté (Pride). Loyauté (Loyalty). Originalité (Originality). Three letters, three words, that define this Franco-Ontarian artist of Haitian descent. Born in Paris, he discovered himself a true passion for music and made his debut in French rap at the tender age of 14. After two nominations at the “Trille Or” Awards Gala in 2015, notably in the category “Discovery artist” of the year; LeFLOFRANCO presents “Retranscrire.” This new EP – a musical collaboration with the renowned “HookCo” team from producer Sonny Black (Corneille, K-maro) – is simply put: rich, fresh and catchy french hip-hop for all ages!
Born and raised in Winnipeg of Jamaican and Nakota First Nation heritage, his life experience has taught him to use his talent as a way to be the change he wants to see in the world. During the closing ceremonies of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada his song “Reconciliation” was nominated for rap single of the year at the Urban Television Hip Hop Awards 2015. Jah’kota made history by being the first native artist to drop a verse in the Senate on National Aboriginal Day 2016. His song and campaign “Indigenize” influenced the title Indigenize the Senate Youth forum 2017.
Hua Li’s hazy R&B and revolutionary rap cuts to the bone and shakes your frail ass to the ground. Following the underground success of her 2013 mixtape, The Bound Feat, Hua Li released her Za Zhong EP with producer Gloze in 2015. She is also an active DJ, having held residencies at Montreal’s Royal Phoenix Bar, Notre Dames des Quilles and Korova Thursdays. Subversive and sexy, Hua Li is Canada’s only half-Chinese, half-militant, half-rapper.
