FKA Viet Cong @ Pop Montreal 2015 [September 18, 2015]

FKA means formerly known as.
So I decided to make a separate posting while touchy the situation is, I will be getting some criticism/flack for it.
Being somewhat internet-less, there was some word of mouth rumblings last week during the Pop Montreal about a certain band performing and it wasn’t until the day of the show that Viet Cong made an announcement that they are going to change the name.
Yes the name caused alot brouhaha but it has overshadowed the awesome music they are making.
While I didn’t see any picket lines against the band’s name outside the venue, the show went without a hitch and the audience didn’t really matter just as long the music was awesomely great.
Just to point out, the band has been touring since January.
They don’t have the luxury like Taylor Swift to be wired into the internet for social media updates and other stuff for 24/7.
They don’t have the budget for a indie act like that to do all caught up (End of topic and talking out of my butt 😛 ).

Matt mentioned that they have been touring since January and also said “We are a bunch of idiots who like to play music”. Band started off with Throw It Away, Unconscious Melody. I was bummed out that they didn’t sing Oxygen Feed. Then went off with materials from the self-titled album. It was pretty chaotic set with people moshing and crowd surfing. Wasn’t until they ended off with Death which they rocked it out for approximately 20 minutes!!!
Controversy aside, this definitely was my favorite set on Friday night at the festival.
