In Media Res – It Was Warm And Sunny When We First Set Out [Review]

I shouldn’t judge an album by it’s album cover, you will never know how good or bad it can be.
I am talking about Vancouver’s In Media Res.
Besides the cover looking like one of those bad family photo albums.
I was curious to what this band sounds like.
Since the band is signed to File Under: Music (Home to Graham Wright, Kathryn Calder, David Vertesi of Hey Ocean!, Dan Mangan [Isn’t he on A&C??] and Blackie & The Rodeo)
All I can say that Raw Sugar Cafe was exploded (literally) with this loud rocking band on August 12, 2011.

Here is a blurb about this album.
Three years in the making, It Was Warm and Sunny When We First Set Out fuses many of the band’s influences; from Radiohead to Talk Talk, TV on the Radio to Destroyer, but retains a unique sound all its own.
I was really impress with this album.
I can see the Radiohead and TV On The Radio influences.
Filled with loud energetic rock sounds in “This Could Be The One, Come Back Down, Bears
To epic rock tracks in Slow Motion Clarity and Tonight I Am New.
Filled with emotions and not that generic rock sound that people would expect to come from this band.

Best tracks:

I’d give this album 9/10
