Land Of Talk – Some Are Lakes (Review)

Land Of Talk - Some Are LakesI hope Elizabeth Powell reads this glowing review I am making for their full length album.

Land Of Talk is a band from lovely Montreal, Quebec.
Right now they are touring with Broken Social Scene and I am unfortunately going to miss the show on Oct 30th in Ottawa.

Officially on Oct 7th their first full-length album “Some Are Lakes” was released.
I got the album on Sept 18th when they played at Zaphods.
Ever since I heard their song “Young Bridge” I’ve been a fan since then.
So far I’ve seen them opened up for The New Pornographers back in April and they played at Westfest
Elizabeth Powell is a nice and rad in person.

On the album which is released under Saddle Creek in America.
I really love the album.
Very gritty, rocking with some added indie rock and pop which is great to listen to.
Elizabeth Powell‘s vocals are amazing and is always in charge.
Lots of guitar driven tracks.

Standout tracks:

  • Yuppy Flu
  • The Man Who Breaks Things (Dark Shuffle)
  • Give Me Back My Heart Attack
  • Young Bridge (I like the P-Dub version alot)
  • Corner Phone (Best of all in the album)
  • Got A Call

Get this album and see them live before they hit the big time.
