Massive Attack – Ritual Spirit [EP Review]

MassiveAttack-RitualSpirit
Massive Attack we have missed you so much!
Since their last release which was 2010’s Heligoland, the trip-hop act has been pushing the boundaries and creating dark and twisted electronic trip-hop music.
With the surprise release of Ritual Spirit which is a first of two EP coming out before their long-awaited sixth album dropping later this year.

Take It There has the return with Tricky since they last collaborated in 1994.
The song is kind of rough around the edges but sounds like they haven’t changed since Karmacoma
The standout track is Dead Editors with Roots Manuva which I feel has a page taken out of Jamie xx’s Gosh and has that UK Garage/Grime/Rap music.
While there are some hits and misses on the EP.
At least Massive Attack has something out in 2016!

Best tracks:

  • Dead Editors
  • Voodoo In My Blood

I’d give Ritual Spirit:
/10 Camera flashes.
