It had been a while since I last attended Nature Nocturne at the Canadian Museum of Nature, so when I found myself with nothing scheduled on a Friday night, I figured: why not go check it out?
On August 7, Nature Nocturne returned with its Golden Hour theme, transforming the museum into a glowing late-night playground where nature meets nightlife.
The event ran from 8 p.m. to midnight and was part of the museum’s 2026–27 Nature Nocturne season, which takes inspiration from the colour-focused special exhibition Wild Colour.
The golden theme was definitely embraced by the crowd.
There were plenty of people dressed in gold, yellow and other warm-toned outfits, giving the museum a bright and colourful atmosphere throughout the night.
The dance party was one of the highlights, with DJs Magnificent, Rise Ashen and Radio-Canada’s Félix B. Desfossés keeping people moving throughout the evening. It was a fun change of pace from the usual museum experience, with the galleries becoming part of a much more energetic nighttime setting.
There was also live music from Golden Groove Jazz, adding some live musical flavour to the evening and giving attendees another option beyond the dance floors.
Of course, Nature Nocturne isn’t just about dancing. There were plenty of activities to check out, including flower hammering, along with the opportunity to wander through the museum’s exhibits and take in the galleries in a completely different atmosphere.
That’s one of the things I enjoy about Nature Nocturne: you can spend part of the night dancing, then take a break and explore the museum, before heading back into the party. The combination makes the event feel different from a typical night out in Ottawa.
Overall, it was great to return to Nature Nocturne after being away for a while.
Golden Hour delivered a fun Friday night filled with music, dancing, colourful outfits, activities and plenty of opportunities to explore the Canadian Museum of Nature.
