Ohbijou’s Casey Mecija talks about Arboretum Music + Arts Festival 2012

Arboretum Music + Arts Festival won’t happen until September 15, 2012.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the festival in it’s inaugural year.
One of the acts I am excited to see is Ohbijou.
I got ask some quick questions to Casey about the upcoming festival.
Check it out.

How excited is the band to be playing at the inaugural Arboretum Festival?
We are incredibly excited to play Arboretum. Rolf has been a close friend of ours since we began playing music and we share many important musical memories with him. We are inspired by his enthusiasm about music and about his effort at creating opportunities for people to share this festival experience. Rolf and Marlene are onto something very special and unique with this festival. We hope to eat lots of oysters and see some great bands in the process.

Is there any acts you are excited to see?
Cadence Weapon and Sandro Perri are definitely at the top of the list. Watching Sandro and his band play the song Wolfman is brain melting.

Besides the acts any of the food vendors you are willing to try out? (In my opinion I love The Manx and Murray Street‘s meatcone!)
I will eat anything. Really…anything.
What can we expect from your live set? New material?
Ohbijou will be playing a set of songs from our past three albums. We may throw in a cover or two…

Not sure when Ohbijou is going to be ready for album #4.
I noticed James (Light Fires) and you (Casey in Warm Myth) has been experimenting on the electronica-dance route.
Any chance of that or simply stay the same in the orchestral-pop rock route?

Album #4 will not be for a long time. We are definitely setting side time to focus on other projects. Some of us are in school, some have jobs…We’ll see how time shapes our narrative as a band.
Can’t wait to see you guys!!
It’ll be nice to see you too!!!
