The New Pornographers – Together (Review)

REVIEW OF THE ALBUM (click on continue reading)

Another big album coming out on May 4th.
Its the fifth studio album from The New Pornographers called Together.
Its been three years since Challenger and during that time other members were doing other projects.
One being A.C. Newman on his solo album, Neko Case on her solo album, Kathryn Calder sort of in Immaculate Machine, Dan Bejar with Destroyer & Swan Lake.
Now the members are sort of done with their project.
Its great that they back “Together” with this album.

Upon listening to the whole album.
Sounds they are back in form and has that “Twin Cinema” feel.
I read that their album “Challengers” was mixed with fans and critics because it was mix of upbeat and mellow tracks.
Considering I am a newbie fan, I could kind of see what since the band has been around 1997.
This is a really great fun album to listen to.
Catchy tracks with the leading single “Your Hands (Together)”, “Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk” and
You can feel there is a certain traits when you hear eithre AC, Neko and Dan sing in individual tracks.
Dan on If You Can’t See My Mirrors & Daughter Of Sorrow having that dark overtone vocals.
Neko on Crash Years which sounds like a Sheryl Crow song.

Overall I really love this album.
Upbeat and great rocking tunes.
Better than Challengers!

Best tracks:

  • Crash Years

  • Silver Jenny Dollar
