Tina Faucher is an emerging artist currently living in Ottawa.
She works primarily with black ink creating detailed hand-drawn stippled images, with subject matter exploring themes such as identity, mental health, and mythology.
May 24th was the vernissage for A Fresh Skin at Purple Urchin.
A Fresh Skin is about the process of purging what no longer serves a beneficial purpose. Sometimes art speaks before the people can, leaving premonitions on paper. Other times, it can go back to reclaim something that was stolen. By shedding self doubts, outdated labels, harmful traditions, and old grudges, a fresh skin is uncovered. These pieces reflect either this transitory healing period, or celebrate what has proven it’s value in the aftermath.
