Yamantaka // Sonic Titan – UZU [Review]

In the Canadian music scene, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan is one my favorite bands right now not because they are Asian but they incorporate their music with Asian influence mixing with punk, electro and rock! 😛
The band is getting some buzz not within their music but within their live shows.
If you haven’t been their live shows, you are definitely missing it!

With that in mind the band will drop their second album on October 29th called UZU.
This is definitely one of my favorite albums to come out this year.
It’s different and takes alot of risk of a band wanting to make their own kind of music.
You may not agree with this review because I am very passionate about this band and want them to do really well.

When I listen to the whole album of UZU.
It has that conceptual vibe when you look at the album cover and theme of “East Meets West”.
My take is that Uzu is the main character.
She goes on a journey of her adventures through the raging seas through life and death.

The tracks I have been non-stop listening is Atalanta//Whalesong and Saturn’s Return.
A epic piano rock ballad reminisced of J-Rock bands like X-Japan & Luna Sea.

While in tracks Bring Me The Hand of Bloody Benzaiten and One has that Asian influence sound of the cymbals, gongs, drums and chanting.

Best tracks:

    • Atalanta//Whalesong
    • Lamia
    • Windflower
    • Hall Of Mirrors
    • Seasickness pt 1 & 2
    • One

  • Saturn’s Return

I’d give UZU a 10/10.
