Last night was Pique, and for the first time the annual event was completely free, thanks in part to partnerships with the Ottawa 200 celebrations and Nuit Blanche Ottawa.
One of the most anticipated performances of the night for me was You’ll Never Get To Heaven.

The duo doesn’t play live very often these days, in part because they have a family to look after, so getting the chance to see them perform was something I definitely wasn’t going to miss.

There was already a big lineup outside Arts Court Theatre, and the venue filled up with people eager to catch the rare performance.
Those lucky enough to get inside were treated to a beautiful set of atmospheric ambient and electro-dream pop.
The set included music from their 2017 album Images, along with what I believe were some tracks from 2021’s Wave Your Moonlight Hat for the Snowfall Train.

From the moment they started playing, I was completely absorbed.
Their music has this wonderfully hazy and immersive quality that makes you feel like you’re drifting somewhere else, and hearing it live inside Arts Court Theatre made the experience even more special.
I was beyond happy throughout the whole set. It was one of those performances where I could simply stand there, listen and let the music wash over me.
I’m really glad I got the chance to finally see You’ll Never Get To Heaven live, especially for such a rare Ottawa performance.
