Just think “”Boys of Summer”” by Don Henley but noisier.
“…the four-piece delivered a set of classic indie rock, musically referencing everything from the Feelies to Lee Ranaldo-led Sonic Youth to Parquet Courts, giving the slowly growing crowd a taste of their brilliantly constructed and intricately written songs”” -Exclaim ”
Area Resident is the music of Ottawa journalist Doug Hempstead, who records at home between splits shifts as a CBC radio traffic reporter. The songs are often based on stories he’s covered or has come into contact with as a reporter. They draw heavily from his Ottawa Valley upbringing. The Valley is where Doug’s music gets its finishing touches. Live performances of Area Resident are done featuring Doug on drums/vocals, John Higney (The Flaps) on guitars/keys, Paul Jensen on guitar and Kristy Nease on bass.
Little You Little Me blend together an energetic riff laden backdrop to their harmonious lyrical introspection. LYLM have taken their hard hitting, visceral live shows across the Canadian continent, as well as touring throughout Europe in 2016. The group’s latest release, In Under Fourteen Highly Concentrated Minutes, was released digitally on October 20 of 2017.
