Guelph musician Geordie Gordon who plays in various band one being U.S. Girls, dropped the music video for 4 Track.
The leading single is taken from the upcoming album The Tower which comes out on September 3, 2021.
A cool folktronica tune and music video has a retro vibe.
About the track:
After U.S. Girls’ tour was cancelled and the world was sent into lockdown, Geordie found himself with a stomach full of anxiety and a whole lot of time on his hands.
Drew Smith (formerly of The Bicycles) invited his to join a ‘Song of the Week’ club.
A collection of musicians challenged each other to write and record one complete song every week.
So began one of the most productive periods in his life, eventually creating enough like-minded songs for a full-length album.
When Geordie was a kid growing up in Guelph, making experimental recordings on 4-track cassette machines was the cool thing to do, with Jim Guthrie leading the charge.
He received a Tascam Porta-02 for his 13th birthday and spent his teenage years learning how to multi-track.
“4-Track” is a nostalgic nod to the innocence of recording simple music for fun.
This song is also about both the work it takes to make a lasting romantic relationship and to create a good recording, including the regrets one can have looking back at either.
4-Track gets:
