Peterborough musician Michael Cloud Duguay recently released “The Only Angel In Sight,” the second single from his upcoming album Wobbly Yonder, set to drop on April 25, 2025, via Watch That Ends The Night.
Rooted in a warm, folksy singer-songwriter tradition with subtle country flourishes, the track unfolds with a tender, contemplative quality. Duguay’s voice carries a quiet intensity, weaving through poetic lyricism and delicate instrumentation.
The arrangement feels intimate yet expansive, evoking a sense of wandering and longing.
If Wobbly Yonder follows the path set by this single, it’s shaping up to be an album rich with heartfelt storytelling and deeply textured soundscapes.
About the track by Michael:
“The Only Angel In Sight” was recorded at multiple remote locations in Prince Edward Island and features a vast array of performers, revealing the extent to which Duguay is embedded across numerous scenes across Canada. It was produced almost entirely with sustainable energy harnessed by collaborator Jake Nicoll’s mobile, solar-powered recording studio, and co-produced by Duguay, Nicoll, and the Burning Hell’s Ariel Sharratt and Mathias Kom.
“The Only Angel In Sight,” equal parts vernacular and baroque, effortlessly transmutes from hushed folk duet to instrumental klezmer pyrotechnics and panoramic Celtic balladry before ending in classic Duguay experimentalism – a parade of chimes and bells obscuring May’s increasingly tape-stretched vocal performance finishes the song miles from a resolution.
