After a three-year absence, Edmonton indie alt-rock outfit Wayfinding makes a welcome return with their new single and music video, Kathleen.
The track serves as the lead single from the band’s upcoming album A Nest of Wren, due out on October 9, 2026 via Are You Giving Me The Hi-Hat.
“Kathleen” immediately sets a dark and brooding atmosphere with its layered guitars, weighty rhythm section, and emotionally charged vocals.
Wayfinding balances melodic hooks with a heavier alternative rock sound, creating a song that slowly builds in intensity while maintaining a haunting sense of vulnerability.
Lyrically, the track explores the emotional turmoil of a toxic relationship, capturing feelings of manipulation, frustration, and the struggle to break free from an unhealthy cycle.
The accompanying lyrical music video reinforces the song’s somber mood, adding another layer to its emotional impact.
With “Kathleen,” Wayfinding delivers a compelling comeback that showcases a more mature and refined sound without losing the raw emotion that defines the band’s music.
If this single is any indication, A Nest of Wren is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing Canadian indie alt-rock releases to watch this fall.
