To take my mind off the Canadian Federal Election, I headed to Club SAW for a Monday night Congrego Presents show.
The lineup featured Eliza Niemi, Advance Base, and Jasmine Trails.
Three distinct acts offering thoughtful, emotional, and understated performances.
Opening the evening was Jasmine Trails, whose intimate acoustic folk-pop set gently drew the crowd in.
Her songs had a quiet vulnerability, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere right from the start.
Next up was Advance Base, the solo project of Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone).
His set was full of melancholic lo-fi electronic pop, blending deadpan delivery with nostalgic storytelling.
Quirky and affecting, his songs felt like confessional diary entries backed by Casio keys and vintage drum machines.
Closing the night was Eliza Niemi, who’s currently touring in support of her new album Progress Bakery.
Her music sits comfortably in the indie pop sphere—sincere, delicate, and subtly experimental.
With soft vocals and lush arrangements, Niemi’s set was both dreamy and grounded, leaving a lasting impression.
All in all, a comforting and emotionally resonant night of music—just what I needed to escape election anxiety for a few hours.
