July Talk & Julianna Riolino @ Bronson Centre

Toronto’s July Talk rolled into Ottawa’s Bronson Centre for the first of two sold-out nights, delivering a performance that felt both nostalgic and electrifying.
The band is currently on tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of their Juno Award–winning album Touch, and this show was a full-on tribute to that era.

As the band took the stage, one surprising moment stood out—frontwoman Leah Fay is visibly pregnant.
At times, it genuinely felt like she might go into labour mid-set, which would have made for an unforgettable (and very rock ‘n’ roll) moment. Instead, she powered through with the same fierce energy and commanding presence that defines July Talk’s live shows.

True to form, the band delivered a high-energy, captivating set, performing Touch in its entirety from start to finish.
The crowd was fully locked in, feeding off the band’s raw chemistry and theatrical dynamic.
They also treated fans to favourites from their self-titled debut, along with tracks like “Remember Never Before” and “Pray for It,” rounding out a set that balanced nostalgia with intensity.
Adding to the night’s impact, proceeds from the concert were directed to the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health—a meaningful gesture that gave the evening an extra layer of purpose.

Kicking things off was Julianna Riolino, who immediately set the tone with a confident and engaging performance. Showcasing material from her 2025 release Echo in the Dust, she brought a rootsy, rock-infused energy that won over the crowd. It may have been my first time seeing her live, but it definitely won’t be the last—there’s something special there, and her trajectory looks promising.

One night down, one more to go in Ottawa.
