Swedish songwriter and musician Dottie Andersson, currently signed to Royal Mountain Records, returns with the release of her new music video for “Wind That Makes the Subway Sound.”
The track leans into a minimal indie alternative pop aesthetic, built on subtle textures and a stripped-back arrangement that lets Andersson’s voice take center stage.
There’s a quiet intimacy to the song, as it slowly unfolds with a restrained yet hypnotic atmosphere.
“Wind That Makes the Subway Sound” feels both delicate and immersive, capturing a sense of motion and introspection through its airy production and understated emotional pull.
It’s a compelling glimpse into Andersson’s evolving sound, where less truly becomes more.
About the single by Dottie:
The new single fizzles with restless energy. Fast and irresistible, “Wind that makes the subway sound” is built from the textures of motion itself: wide open keys, rushing air, and moving drums played by Andersson herself. The result feels immediate and physical – like the rush of air from an arriving train or a cold glass of water on a warm summer’s day.
The single was recorded and produced by Dottie Andersson and Ben Jackson-Cook (based in London and known for his work with artists such as Rag’n’Bone Man).
The drummer–pianist duo worked closely together in a small studio, removed from the noise of the outside world but deeply connected to the emotional core of the music.
Andersson calls the sound “Garage-Pop”. “It sounds like we recorded a band in my mum’s garage and then put some big-ass vocals on top,” she explains.
Dottie Andersson certainly isn’t quietly arriving and if “Wind that makes the subway sound” is any indication, she’ll leave the kind of mark that lingers long after the train has passed.
