Kyrie Kristmanson & the Afiara String Quartet @ Chamberfest 2010

I went to my first and only Ottawa Chamberfest 2010 show on July 27, 2010.
The show took place downstairs at the Saint Brigid’s Church.
It was kind of hot there since they had no AC.
Mostly came to support Kyrie Kristmanson who is frequently covered in this site.
Also I haven’t seen her play in Ottawa for awhile due to Kyrie being in France.
It was a unqiue show because she was backed up by the Afiara String Quartet.

The show was a world premiere of the Domna Elegies.

The Domna Elegies is a song cycle based on a series of poems that Kristmanson wrote after traveling through the South of France to visit medieval castles where the 12th and 13th century troubadours worked and lived. Kristmanson describes the DOMNA ELEGIES as, “a sensual reinterpretation of the loves and crusades that inspired the men and women troubadours, the first songwriters of the western world.” The 40-minute performance also includes Carrabré’s arrangements of six original Kyrie Kristmanson songs.

She was brilliantly amazing on stage.
I think she should do more of this kind of setup in future Ottawa shows.
She suited very well with the music and arrangement.
Totally an amazing show.
Here are the rest of the photos.
