After a few set backs last year, Nigerien guitarist, singer and songwriter Mdou Moctar delivered a mesmerizing solo acoustic set, offering a stripped-down yet deeply expressive take on his brilliant music.
The performance was made even more special with the occasional accompaniment of Siaka Diabaté, who joined him for select songs—possibly drawing from Funeral for Justice, Tears of Justice, and Afrique.
This collaboration added another layer of warmth and groove to the evening, making the show feel intimate, rhythmic, and profoundly moving.
Opening up the show was Siaka Diabaté & Raphael Weinroth-Browne with a cool blend of cello strings and Kora music.
