Monobloc – EP [Streaming]

New York-based band Monobloc has just released their self-titled EP, a collection of tracks that wear their early-2000s influences on their sleeve while carving out their own identity.
The EP is steeped in the spirit of The Strokes, channeling that era’s raw and infectious alterna-rock energy, but there’s more to Monobloc’s sound than mere nostalgia. Their music carries a moodier edge, blending shimmering, reverb-heavy guitar lines with driving rhythms and introspective lyrics.
Each track on the EP captures a different shade of their style: from the punchy, riff-driven hooks reminiscent of garage rock’s heyday to more atmospheric moments where the band leans into darker, more reflective tones.
The production stays true to the lo-fi aesthetic that defined so much of the early-aughts alternative scene, but Monobloc balances that grit with a sense of polish and tightness.
