Owen Pallett played to an amazing and wonderful show at the NAC studio.
It was part of the 2014-2015 season of NAC Presents.
I couldn’t be anymore excited for this show.
Owen was finally in Ottawa to promote his fourth album In Conflict which came out in May.
Opening up the show was Toronto’s Lydia Ainsworth.
I got to see her at Pop Montreal 2014 last week.
This time she didn’t bring in a snake.
She put on a lovely and amazing set of her electronic dream pop music.
Played tracks from her new album Right From Real out on Arbutus Records.
She had that Kate Bush and Austra like vocals.
She finished off with a haunting cover of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game.
Then it was Owen Pallet’s turn.
I have to say this was the one of the best performances I have seen this year.
At this stage of his musical career, he couldn’t do any better.
Of course he played from the current album In Conflict.
Played old ones like E Is For Estranged and This Is the Dream of Win & Regine
I was so moved hearing him play his violin and sound so superb that I almost wanted to cry.
Hands down one of the best shows this year!
