Claude and his team have recently been recording new material for their upcoming sophomore album entitled “The Silence Came After”.
Based in Ottawa, New York and Montreal, the disciples that form LITTLE SUNS seek to unite heart and mind, moving audiences to dance and tickling their imagination with a colourful, textured and expressive synthesis of every genre they can think of, real or fantastical. Led by John Aaron Cockburn, nephew and collaborator to Canadian folk legend Bruce Cockburn, they are riding a wave of excitement following the release of ZERO, a half-hour’s distillation of the blessing of the mapled autumn recorded in an old farmhouse in the hills of Chesterville QC and mixed by John Aaron Cockburn and
drummer Liam Smith in Montreal, Salt Spring Island, and Ottawa.
An off-shoot of Ottawa art-rock collective Pony Girl, mal/aimé take the band’s experimental chamber sound and run with it, combining clarinet, guitars, and percussion with synths, drones and electronics. Their immersive live set works in tandem with the vibe of the audience and the sounds of the room, and often features found noises and thematic vocal samples framed by the trio’s thoughtful ebb and flow.
The brand new Ottawa-based online thrift store Tall Pines Thrift will be setting up a rack full of amazing finds at our Concert Series Oct. 28. Their aim is to operate sustainably with a focus on Canadian-made items. Be sure to follow them on Instagram and keep an eye on all their wicked garments!
