ABOUT EYE BUY ART
EYE BUY ART is an online gallery that harnesses the democratic nature of the internet to introduce our artists to a global audience, and to connect people with award-winning art that matters. EYE BUY ART strives to be a gateway for people to discover groundbreaking art that is of our times, and on the cutting edge of innovation in photography, VR and other mediums. We are guided by a passionate belief in the power of art to create inspiring personal experiences, while fostering relationships that span the globe. Our business model allows us to be nimble; experimenting with innovative strategies that enhance our digital presence, with projects that take place in the physical world. These projects include international art fairs, pop-ups, strategic partnerships, and temporary public art exhibitions that give profile and context to our artists in an otherwise crowded space.
The artists we support represent a young generation of image-makers (mostly 40 and under), the majority of whom are Canadian, and come from diverse cultures and communities from across the country including Nunavut, Kelowna, Halifax, Northern Alberta, the Bruce Peninsula, Guelph, Vancouver, Haida Gwaii, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. Since our launch in 2009, EYE BUY ART has shipped art to over 40 countries worldwide, and has been featured in Bloomberg Business Week, Real Simple, Elle Magazine, Style at Home, Chatelatine, enRoute, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Life and others.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
EYE BUY ART Founder Emily McInnes was the Creative Director at CONTACT Photo Festival, where she activated partnerships with Scotiabank, 3M, Magnum Photos, enRoute and The National Gallery of Canada among others, by presenting grand-format, temporary installations of contemporary art in public / high-traffic spaces. She was also the Co-Founder / Co-Director of Flash Forward, an international festival of photography that showcases the best new image makers from Canada, the US and the UK (jury members include the Senior Photo Editor at TIME Magazine, a curator from the Corcoran, and the Creative Director of Vanity Fair). In 2009 Emily was one of 12 “Women Entrepreneurs Who Make a Difference”, selected from among 15,000 global applicants, to win a condensed MBA led by Seth Godin in New York. She has lectured at the Pratt Institute (Fundraising for the Arts) , iD2015 (Collecting Art in the Digital World), and at OCAD (Introduction to Collecting), and was an advisor to Magnum Photos.
