Being a few days before Christmas.
Went to Raw Sugar Cafe for a lovely intimate evening of acoustic folk rock music with Kate Maki and Fred Squire.
This was the first time seeing those two live.
I did see Kate Maki when she was in The Minotaur back in 2008.
Did see Fred when he was with Daniel, Fred and Julie.
The turnout was great for a Monday night show.
There was no opener and the show just started with Kate and Fred singing.
It was them singing back and forth each of their own songs.
Both had really interesting stories about their trip in Europe.
Kate was promoting her current album Two Song Wedding.
Fred had his solo album too.
It was nice to hear Kate’s Blue Morning from her album On High.
Both didn’t plan to do an encore.
But they did an impromptu Christmas tunes.
Favorite was when Fred did a small part of “T’was the Night Before Christmas” and wearing a Santa hat.
It was brilliantly fun to see.
Overall I had a great time at this show.
Both gave me goosebumps.
Here are the rest of the photos.
