“I was imagining April Wine jamming with Steve Miller but then Dave and Chris took it to Portland Street like they always do,” Plaskett says. Accordingly, the tune struts with the Emergency’s slippery style as tumbling drum rolls and harmonized guitar licks weave between punchy bar-rock power chords and foot-down rhythm.
A rollicking ode to ambiguity sparked by Marshall McLuhan’s ‘Hot & Cold Media’ theory, Fill in the Blanks finds Plaskett winkingly withholding words on the chorus, encouraging the listener to use their imagination.
