There was no way I was going to miss Land of Talk’s show at Gatineau’s Bar Minotaure on a Friday night.
The venue was well attended, the vibe was right, and it felt special to be part of it.
The band delivered a heartfelt set, pulling mostly from their 2023 album Performances and 2020’s Indistinct Conversation, with a few welcome surprises from earlier records like Some Are Lakes, Life After Youth, and Applause Cheer Boo Hiss.
It was a solid mix that showcased the band’s evolution while still tapping into their signature emotional resonance.
Opening the night was Montreal’s Marlaena Moore, who played a beautiful and intimate solo set.
Performing material from her latest record Because You Love Everything, she held the room with just her voice and guitar—setting the tone perfectly for the evening.
Still buzzing from the experience, I was just really glad to be there.
