Recently Mac DeMarco unveiled the music video for “Holy,” the second single from his forthcoming album Guitar, set to be released on August 22, 2025, via Mac’s Record Label.
“Holy” continues DeMarco’s recent streak of stripped-down, introspective songwriting.
With its intimate and moody tone, the track floats along a mellow groove, pairing warm guitar strums with his hushed, almost reverent vocals.
It’s another reminder that even in simplicity, Mac still knows how to tug at the heart.
About the track by Mac:
“Holy” is a lilting, laidback reflection on spirituality.
In the song’s opening lines, Mac sings: “Miracle, reveal yourself to me // Miracle, your help could set me free” leading into the conclusion: “Curse, carried on forever in me // Curse, from which I may never be free // Curse from down below // Holy.”
As with the video for “Home,” Mac filmed the “Holy” video himself. He comments:
“I waded around in the ocean fully clothed for a couple hours and completely filled my boots with seawater. There were some other shots on some rocks I kept trying too, but in the end the clip of me falling in the garden and eating the apple was best. Thank you for listening.”
