Sorry for the delay because I was internet-less during my time at Pop Montreal 2011.
After attending the Opening party/Fashion Pop!.
The only show I went on the first night was at Le Divan Orange.
Definitely one of the “it” shows on the first night of the festival.
A friend convinced me otherwise to check this out because Japandroids were going to preview new tracks on an upcoming album.
Felt like deja-vu again since it was two years ago that I saw Japandroids play that same venue. Hence this photo.

I got there in time when Montreal’s Play Guitar started.
I haven’t seen them since they played Raw Sugar Cafe last September.
The band added two new members which happened to be from ex-Long Long Long.
I like the new line-up in this band.
Their set was pretty great!
This time their sound had more of that gritty indie garage rock sound.

Next up was Montreal’s No Joy.
They were a last minute replacement for Bass Drum Of Death who couldn’t make it.
I really wanted to see that band but was very curious about No Joy.
Because the band currently has a song called He Cried which is a The Shangri-La’s He Cried on a split single with Marnie Stern.
Their set was pretty shoegazey.
I actually liked it.
Hope this band will come to Ottawa.

Lastly it was Japandroids to take the stage.
Haven’t seen them live since they played at Osheaga 2010.
Anyways the audience was getting way to excited for this!
Man they put on a loud rocking show.
Started out playing alot of new material from the upcoming album.
It wasn’t until they played the old tracks that the audience went wild “literally”.
Luckily I stayed at the same spot as last time just to be safe and not to get my camera detroyed. (Which was the left side of the stage)
It was total insane but without the bodysurfing from last time.
Can’t wait for the new album.

This wrapped up my first night at Pop Montreal 2011.
