Friday night at the 27 Club was a full-throttle ride with Preoccupations headlining.
Stopping in Ottawa on tour behind their new album Ill at Ease, the band tore through new material and dove deep into their killer back catalogue. They opened with my favourite, “Unconscious Melody”—loud, tight, and totally locked in from the first note.

Toronto’s Lavoro followed, made up of ex-members of Fake Palms and Greys.
Their set was a blistering blend of heavy guitar-driven punk rock, ripping through tracks with intensity and precision.

I hadn’t realized the show would actually start at 7 p.m., so I was lucky to catch opener Still Depths just in time.
They brought some loud, grungy alt-rock energy to warm up the crowd and set the tone for the night.

Overall, it was a great Friday to get loud and lose yourself in some serious noise.
