If you have nothing to do on Pre-Valentine’s day (February 13th).
Why not come to this screening by Eva Bee’s Jamboree with The Acorn at Raw Sugar Cafe.
Since I wanted to have her on my radio show “Photogmusic LIVE” but due to scheduling difficulties.
I decided to do a Q&A with Eva Bee about this video series and the upcoming event on February 13th.
Here is a blurb:
Eva Bee’s Jamboree is a local and seasonal cooking show with a musical twist!
Once a month she invites a musician to cook something for that month.
Check out the Q&A.
1. What made you decide to do this cooking show with musicians?
I am a musician and love to cook, I thought having a cooking show with musicians would be a way of entertaining people into learning to cook for themselves! They’re both intuitive arts that I believe everyone can, at least, try out and enjoy.
2. How has the response been?
The response has been great but few. We think that it’s mostly being viewed by our extended Facebook friends and the friend’s of bands. We’re trying to find ways to get the word out about the show better. The people who have watched it seem to watch multiple episodes after seeing one and bands have begun to approach us! We have also been approached by Rogers 22 to air our episodes on their channel.
3. You have a special screening at Raw Sugar Cafe on Feb 13th. What can we expect? Food that you made?
Please refer to the facebook event.
For those not on Facebook.
This month Eva and Rolf of the Acorn are making French Beer Batter Crepes (which they will be selling at the event!) with Raspberry Coulis and Pascale’s Chocolate Cashew Ice Cream.
Food and entertainment by DJ jFun of the event “F*CK I LOVE YOU”. He will be spinning some classic 90s love songs for ya’ll!
They will also be selling the episode’s St. Bernard Crepes if you’d like a little taste of the action..
There will be a bonus screening of:
Ivanka Cooks! Moules et Frites – A lonely Valentine, Ivanka, drunkenly and delusional, cooks the classic French dish Moules et Frites for a photograph of Stephen Colbert.
4. Anyone performing?
Rolf was going to but he forgot he had a show that night with Adam’s jazz band. Instead we have Jordan of The Love Machine DJ-ing under the name jFun
5. You can say all your episodes is like a kid but I have to ask. Who was your favorite?
My favourite episode was the Pizza House episode with The Love Machine. It was the episode I had the most script ideas, so it was really fun to have them pretend to fight over what to make, pretend to cry while I was using a blow torch. It was also my first episode I fully edited myself so I was really proud of the comedic elements I could create with fun editing techniques. Also, making a house out of pizza was a risk but it was so fun to make and turned out amazingly!
6. Since you are a master cook. What is your favorite thing to make?
I love all the techniques involved in authentic Chinese cooking. Plus it’s super tasty. I also love recreating pastries and desserts Gluten Free and having people who have a gluten intolerance feel as if they can finally eat decadently again!
7. What is the worst thing to make?
There isn’t much I hate to cook but if I was ever forced to cook at a restaurant that used pre-packaged food, it would drive me crazy! I really believe in cooking from scratch and see why a restaurant would need to do otherwise..
8. Since you mostly do Ottawa acts. I know with out of town acts are hard to get since they are busy getting ready for a show and stay for one night.
I would like to cook with the following people:
- Lady Gaga (since she said if she wasn’t a pop star, she would be a chef and I believe if I wasn’t a chef I would be a pop star.. it would just be perfect)
- Grimes (her music and fashion is also pretty rad and out there.. I’d love to get to know her better over food!)
- Leonard Cohen (I wouldn’t even cook with him.. we’d probably just talk about wine.. but.. I wouldn’t even talk, either.. I would just sit there with my mouth gaping open in awe of how insightful he is)
- Sound Team, Age of Electric, White Stripes (Just so I could reunite them)
9. Who is your favorite cook that inspired you?
Julia Child: She did a documentary series about artisans who only focus on one traditional cuisine For example she set out to find the perfect baguette maker and documented that process. I would like to do the same one day.. and inspire a new generation to appreciate and learn how to cook / where food comes from in the same sort of way.
10. What can we expect in the future for your show?
For May we are doing an Orthodox Easter episode with Ukrania and in June we are doing a Jazz Fest episode with Renee Yoxon! August will be our last episode until we decide what will be next for our videos.. but around that time we will probably start airing extended versions of our show on Rogers 22.
DON’T FORGET FEBRUARY 13th @ RAW SUGAR CAFE!!
