This is out of the norm for this being review on the site.
Considering I got the CD for free (Giving it away) and a sucker/have a guilty pleasure for British pop music.
So why not and see what kind or reaction I will get with this.
Reviewing the US version of Sticks and Stone by Cher Lloyd.
For those who don’t know, she was a finalist in the UK version of X-Factor.
Originally the album came out in the UK last year.
You must have heard the song Want U Back on the radio with incessant grunts by Cher herself.
There is nothing special with Cher Lloyd.
Besides the songs sounding like the typical music you hear on mainstream radio.
While she is trying to sound like Katy Perry on Behind The Music.
Her vocals in my opinion sounds she trying to be the British version of Nicki Minaj.
Who couldn’t forget her debut #1 UK song Swagger Jagger.
While I am not fond on the song unless you have a lot to drink and dance your butt off.
The only highlight on the album is the semi-ballad pop on Beautiful People. Which isn’t cheesy and crass in your face.
Playa Boi basically samples the late 80s classic Buffalo Stance. I prefer Buffalo Stance than this song.
While I am not in the right demographic with Cher Lloyd’s music.
It is nothing but bubblegum British pop.
A guilty pleasure when played at a party or do silly drunk dance moves.
I’d give this album a 5/10. *GASP*

Not going to lie, a huge fan of Cher Lloyd – yes it’s quite typical but I’m expecting some ridiculous songs in the near future though. As a dancer, her tracks are overall fun to choreograph too. I never thought I say that, but hey, guilty pleasure.

Yeah, agree with Brian to some extent. I watched that season of X Factor and found her quite interesting, with WAY more personality than any other singer her age. I’d like to see what she does when she gets to have more control over her career and output.
