It was a nice evening of indie orchestral/chamber pop rock music at Mavericks on June 20, 2012.
With the heatwave we just had on Wednesday.
Why not cool off with these bands that played.
The acts that played were:
• Brasstronaut

• Útidúr

• Phantom Shores

Ottawa’s Phantom Shores started off the set.
They played a great indie folk pop set.
Can’t wait for the full album when it comes out.
Útidúr (pronounced: ooh! – detour) was a band from Iceland.
I was kind of curious to see this band live because you know a band from Iceland never plays in Ottawa.
The eight members all fitted on to the stage and surprised to see how young they look.
The band mostly played tracks from their album This Mess We’ve Made.
They sort of reminded me of a Icelandic version Broken Social Scene and The Most Serene Republic.
Like when the members were speaking in Icelandic to each other.
They were truly amazing to see live.
Lastly it was Brasstronaut’s turn.
They hadn’t play in Ottawa for quite.
Besides playing The Black Sheep Inn but for those who couldn’t get to see them when they released “Mount Chimaera”.
Truly an amazing set with visual and great orchestral sounds.
They started off with Slow Knows from Mount Chimaera. Love that song alot!
Played tracks from the new album “Mean Sun” like Bounce and Mean Sun.
At the end, the members of Útidúr joined them and played a high energetic track.
With the drummer of Útidúr playing with the light machine.
This was the best set they have played in Ottawa.
