I hadn’t planned on attending Thursday night at Ottawa Jazzfest, but when a friend offered a free ticket, I couldn’t pass it up — especially with Broken Social Scene on the bill.
It turned out to be a fantastic night filled with nostalgia and energy.
The band delivered a crowd-pleasing set packed with classics like “7/4 (Shoreline),” a beautifully intimate version of “Lover’s Spit” in Feist’s signature style having La Force and Hannah Georgas singing, and plenty of favourites from their landmark 2002 album You Forgot It In People.
Whether you’ve seen them a dozen times or it was your first, it was a reminder of how powerful and timeless their songs still are live.
