Groenland – The Chase [Review]

I was very curious on who Groenland is?
With a band name like that, you would think the band is from Europe or Iceland.
Nope! They are from Montreal, Canada!
The band consist members of:

  • Sabrina Halde: Vocals, ukelele, keyboard, percussions
  • Jean-Vivier Lévesque: keyboard, electros, percussions
  • Jonathan Charette: Drum
  • Simon Gosselin: Bass
  • Gabrielle Girard-Charest:Cello
  • Fanny C. Laurin: Violin

This being their debut album, I was really impressed!
It’s a mix of indie orchestral folk-pop and rock music!
With a hint of electronic pop on the final song “The Chase”.
Very catchy melodies and lyrics.
Here is a blurb on The Chase:
The Chase is the pursuit of an ideal, the desire to be in constant evolution, our tendency to put ourselves in danger to understand what we’re made of, explains Sabrina.
It’s also about taking risks, for our own self, alone or with someone.

Best tracks:

  • Our Last Shot
  • Superhero
  • 26 Septembre
  • Immune
  • Criminals
  • Daydreaming
  • The Things I’ve Done
  • Our Hearts Like Gold
  • The Chase

RIYL: Of Monsters and Men, Olenka and the Autumn Lovers, Cold Specks, Folly and the Hunter and Ohbijou
I’d give The Chase 9/10.
