NAC Presents Line-Up for 2019-2020

NAC Presents just unveiled their line-up for the first batch of the 2019-2020 season.
Since I am focusing on the music aspect of this.
The big ones for their 9th season are Buffy Sainte-Marie, Tanya Tagaq, 2018 Polaris Prize winner Jeremy Dutcher and Chilly Gonzales.
In collaboration with the NAC’s inaugural Indigenous Theatre department, NAC Presents is honoured to host artist, activist and Oscar-winning songwriter
Buffy Sainte-Marie.
On the heels of her new biography by Vancouver writer Andrea Warner, NAC Presents reflects on the past, and looks forward to the future of Canadian songwriting with this uncompromising hero.

2018 Polaris Prize winner, Jeremy Dutcher, brings his unique brand of new Indigenous composition to
the NAC. The classically-trained Canadian Indigenous tenor, composer, musicologist, performer and activist
received universal praise for his 2018 album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, which blended the traditional songs and stories of his Wolastoq community with contemporary composition and operatic vocals.

To kick off 2020, NAC Presents is thrilled to welcome back the inimitable pianist-composer-rapper Chilly Gonzales. Whether performing hushed minimalist compositions, or sardonic electro-pop, a Chilly Gonzales concert is an incomparable experience.

Fridays at the Fourth, NAC Presents’ popular emerging music series returns. With an accessible ticket price, the series offers an eclectic and
adventurous program of new Canadian music across all genres, from hip hop and electro, to indie, folk, and jazz!
