Today, the Toronto collective Broken Social Scene dropped the track called The Call.
The song serves as the third and final single from the band’s upcoming sixth album, Remember The Humans, out May 8, 2026 via Arts & Crafts.
“The Call” leans into the band’s signature sound—an energetic, vibrant blend of synth-rock with a danceable edge.
It’s a sound fans have come to expect from Broken Social Scene, balancing layered instrumentation with an anthemic, communal feel that continues to define their output.
About the track by Kevin Drew:
In its sense of communal momentum, this track is the sound of individuals dissolving into something bigger than themselves; our long-practiced alchemy at work. Shaped in part by Andrew’s enigmatic pen, the track commands forward movement without certainty, action rooted in instinct.
The singers tell of an encounter with a female power who unleashes both desire and death upon them.
These twin forces propel the singers to the dance floor, to favour the body over the mind, and to heed The Call “Either restless or reborn / we’re going.”
Where are they going?
To nonexistence ?
To orgasm?
While other tracks on Remember The Humans are more cerebral, “The Call” is anatomical, carrying with it a sense of sweat, nerves, animal urgency. Hope you enjoy.
Much love xx
