I recently attended the gallery relaunch of de Montigny Contemporary, formerly Studio Sixty Six, which opened with the vernissage of two standout exhibitions: Norman Takeuchi‘s All In Good Time and Sarah Tompkin‘s Project Space. The revamped space is strikingly modern, with its pristine white walls and polished floors offering a minimalist yet inviting atmosphere.
Takeuchi’s All In Good Time is an exploration of experimental abstraction, dominated by an intriguing interplay of blacks, whites, and reds. His use of bold, irregular shapes gives the work a dynamic, almost sculptural quality, making each piece feel alive with energy.
In contrast, Tompkin’s Project Space evokes a more tranquil mood, with her abstract paintings leaning heavily on cool tones of blue and green. Her compositions feel fluid and expansive, drawing you into an immersive, almost meditative space.
Both exhibitions will be on display until November 17, 2024, making this a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary Ottawa-based artist.
