Ottawa Bluesfest 2011: Day 5

Rich Aucoin @ Bluesfest 2011
With the aftermath of the freak rain storm that overshadowed The Black Key’s set (Apparently they played at 10:30pm).
The weather on Day 5 of Ottawa Bluesfest 2011 was a different contrast.
It was a perfect day of great live music that played out at the festival.
The acts that I saw were:

I decided to check out the Hard Rock stage.
Happened to be “Gospel Day” there.
To kill some time, saw this musician Scott Towaij.
It was alright but I got a little weirded out with all this religious stuff.
But the band look good live.

Then headed up to the Claridge stage to see Ottawa’s Giant Hand.
This was the first time he has played to a big stage and outdoors.
He had a backing band consisting of:
Adam Saikaley
Jonathan Pearce
Rolf Klausener
Pat (Drums for The Acorn)
It was a really great set!

Sweet Thing who I finally got to see.
Played at the MBNA stage and put on a great lively set.

Dawes was totally rocking it at the National Bank stage.

OK Justin Nozuka, who played at the Claridge stage.
All I can say is, he sure got the girls go wild with his music.
Surprised no one threw their bras and panties towards him.
He is a talented musician but still not understanding all the rage from the girls. 😛

Now Rich Aucoin who played at the MBNA stage.
Of course he has been covered alot in this site.
It was a first time for his Ottawa show to be at day time and outdoors.
All I can say is it was a fun show and those who made it totally had a great time.
Since the MBNA stage had a middle barricade, I had to run from each side to get some shots.
At least Rich waited abit for those on the right side to get to the left side for the parachute part of the song.
For those that missed his set, it was totally amazing.
Probably gained newer fans who happened to be there.

Decided to see Dennis Coffey after Rich’s set at the MBNA stage.

Headed to the Claridge stage to see Erykah Badu’s set.
The turn out for this set was crazy, since it’s probably the first time she has played in Ottawa.
Just say she was really late to show up.
About 30 minutes last to be exact.
She totally blew everyone away when she came on stage and sang the songs she sang.
The third song was a introduction about her.
Loved the part she gave the middle finger.
Despite waiting that long, she totally didn’t disappoint.

Since the Hip was playing the MBNA stage.
I went to see M.Ward at the National Bank Stage.
Considering The Hip (in my opinion) plays like 12 times a year in Ottawa.
M.Ward is one of those musicians that rarely plays in Ottawa.
So it was a better chance to see him live.
He was truly amazing live!
I had such a great time!

Overall I had a great time on Day 6 at Ottawa Bluesfest
Here are the rest of the photos.
