Population II – Magouilleux [Listen]

Today, Montreal-based rock trio Population II dropped their new track “Magouilleux,” which translates to “scheming.”
The song serves as the lead single from the band’s upcoming EP Gimmicks, set for release on April 3, 2026 via Bonsound.
Marking a noticeable shift in direction, the track embraces a dreamy, synthedelic sound that highlights the band’s evolving style.

About the track by Population II:
Magouilleux unfolds with dreamlike synths and keyboards, gradually blending with Pierre-Luc Gratton’s husky voice, pulsating drums, and the rumble of a bass synthesizer.
Drifting at times into a darker, somewhat unsettling soundscape, the three-piece band never loses control and delivers a powerful lesson in balance, proving that they are equally skilled at restraint and intensity.
