Thanya Iyer – What can we grow that we can’t see from here? [Music Video]

Today, Montreal musician Thanya Iyer released the music video for “What can we grow that we can’t see from here?,” the third single from her upcoming album TIDE/TIED, set for release on April 30, 2025, via Topshelf Records.
Another beautiful and hypnotic dreamy indie experimental pop tune, showcasing Iyer’s singular ability to blend ethereal soundscapes with intimate, reflective lyricism.

About the track by Thanya:
“What can we grow that we can’t see from here?” is an exploration of hope, transformation, and radical imagination.
How do we let go of structures that no longer serve us and build something new together?
How do we trust the unseen processes beneath the surface?
In nature, so much growth is invisible – roots stretch deep underground long before anything appears above the soil.
This song is about that kind of patience and trust as we break down this dissonant world and work together to rebuild it.

The director of the video Bucky Illingworth came up with so many beautiful concepts to showcase these themes.
One of the things he said that really stuck with me was about re-imagining the future and normalizing radical acts as an everyday part of life — simple acts of love, affection attention, genrosity, service, redistrubution of wealth, returning land.
The video is a reflection of this re-imagination.
