I chose to list my top ten tracks of 2009 instead of singles. Here they are:
#1. 11th Dimension – Julian Casablancas
From “Phrazes For The Young”
I remember when this track leaked and I had my first taste of this album: I died.
#2. Armistice – Phoenix
From “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”
I was going to put 1901 at first but everyone loves 1901.. Armistice, however, not only makes me dance but pulls a bit on my heartstrings.
#3. Heads Will Roll – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
From “It’s Blitz!”
A bit spooky, a lot to dance to, a great track!
#4. Relator – Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson
From “Break Up”

I really like Scarlett’s voice in this album as opposed to her other one (the one with the Tom Waits covers.) I especially love her voice mixed with that of Pete Yorn’s. Catchy track.
#5. Ten Out of Ten – Paolo Nutini
From “Sunny Side Up”
The raspy voice, the happy trumpets.. I love waking up to this song.
#6. Islands – The xx
From “xx”
There’s something about this track that makes me think of the word intimate. It’s calm, friendly, and comfortable.
#7. Microphone – Coconut Records
From “Davy”
The first single from Coconut Records’ (Jason Schwartzman) new album sums its contents up in what can only be described as Schwartzman’s own creation. I really don’t know how to describe this one, check it out for yourself, you might be able to see (or, well.. hear!)
#8. T Shirts – Still Life Still
From “Girls Come Too”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47PiVImEF3E
Questionable lyrics teamed up with a catchy tune. What more could you ask for?
#9. Young Adult Friction – The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
From “The Pains of Being Pure at Heart”
Sweet, happy, and optimistic, the sounds of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are like a ray of sunshine – literally.
#10. Laura Palmer’s Prom – You Say Party! We Say Die!
From “XXXX”
A great track from their new album – among the many others.
