Andy Shauf – The Party [Review]

Finally got a chance to listen to the long awaited Andy Shauf album called The Party.
His last album The Bearer of Bad News originally came out in 2012 but it wasn’t until 2015 that it got the re-issue treatment.
Since then his popularity of his singer-songwriter folk pop music has risen.
The Party is 10 lovely pop music and it is a departure from the folk-pop and more into the catchy luscious piano, drums, strings and catchy melody music.
While Andy has stated this isn’t a concept album but The Party has a unique narration that you are entering the best or worst party of your life.
It is like being transported to the 1960s when pop music was simply innocent, pure and fun.
While I was happy that he ends off the album with Martha Sways which he has performed since 2013.
This version has more orchestral sounding than just him and the guitar with it isolated sadness.
There are upbeat tracks in Twist Your Ankle, To You and Eyes of Them All.
Definitely one of my favorite records to listen to for going into the summer!
Best tracks:

  • The Magician
  • Early To The Party
  • Twist Your Ankle
  • Quite Like You
  • To You
  • Eyes of Them All
  • Martha Sways

I’d give The Party:
