Artpreneur 2019

Went to the sixth annual instalment of Artpreneur.
This year’s edition happened on Friday and took place at Bayview Yards in the downtown area and not in Shenkman Centre which was all the way in Orleans.
The theme this year was Creative Infrastructure: Media + Management + Spaces.
In case you aren’t aware about Artpreneur.
It is Ottawa’s premiere cross-disciplinary event for creative entrepreneurs.
Bridging art, entrepreneurship and the creative industries, including visual art, film and music, to help solve the problems facing arts entrepreneurs today.
MCing the event was Livia Belcea of Apt613 and City of Ottawa.
Speakers that was there (in order of time and appearance):
Jeff Leiper who is the city councillor for Kitchissippi Ward.
Elly Smallwood who is a visual artist
Remco Volmer who is the managing director of Artengine
Jon Bartlett of Megaphono (Reminder it is coming back on February 6-8, 2020).
Sothea Kham and Bruno Souliére of General Assembly. Announced that it was their last day and Black Squirrel Books is taking over the place.
Kwende Kefentse of Cultural Industries Development for City of Ottawa.
Jamie Hurst who is the Economic Development for City of Ottawa.
Kevin Bourne and Joe Mebrahtu of Shifter Magazine.
Mark Sutcliffe who is a broadcaster, columnist, author, blogger and podcaster.
Bruce Harvey of Ottawa Film Office
Amy Ede who is the Marketing & Communications of NAC Indigenous Theatre.

The expo hall had Girls+Rock Ottawa, Ottawa Music Industry Coalition, Ottawa Public Library, YouthOttawa, Wallack’s and many more!
