Halifax-based band Beauts have unveiled the music video for their latest single “Heaviness.”
The track drifts in with a dreamy, midtempo groove, blending indie and alt-rock textures that capture both weight and lightness.
Shimmering guitars and a steady rhythm section carry the song’s emotional pull, while the video adds a visual layer that mirrors its reflective atmosphere.
About the track by Beauts:
Middle age often brings on a reckoning with phasing out of younger adulthood and its associated behaviours.
In your 40s it’s more common to feel weird and bored at the bar, or out of place at any party that isn’t a small group of close friends.
But you can also find yourself resentful towards the alternative, which is often presented as a combo of domesticity and responsibility that you don’t feel equipped for or ready to embrace. “Heaviness” finds Beauts grappling with this state of in-betweenness.
Born from an unearthed demo from Beauts’ early days, “Heaviness” has evolved into a mid-tempo anthem that opens the second side of the band’s forthcoming full-length album “Marigolds” (to be released in fall 2025).
Employing a driving rhythm, ringing guitars, and a big-swing chorus, it’s a song built for late-summer drives where you realize the sun is setting a little earlier each night.
